The Company
Founded by Eve Delfin in 1996, Danzantes de Merced was created with the goal of educating the public of the rich culture and history of Mexico through the instruction of dance and movement. Dancers learn the historical background and meaning behind costuming, accessories, music and dance. Class work emphasizes footwork, skirt work, and body movement. Care is given to build stage presentation, self-esteem and the love of dance.

Danzantes de Merced was a recipient of a Multicultural Entry Grant from the California Arts Council. Danzantes is also proud to have participated in the Round Up for the Annenburg Foundation annual conference.
The group performs throughout the Merced community as well as for Merced area schools and private functions. Several of our dancers have gone on to perform for professional shows including Fiesta Navidad with Ballet Folklorico Ollin and Los
Camperos de Nati Cano with Linda Ronstadt, as well as performances in other dance venues.
The group has had the privilege of
performing at the Saroyan Theatre in Fresno and was received enthusiastically at the annual Danzantes
Unidos Festival in Hayward and San Diego. Their Christmas program Las Posadas is becoming an annual tradition in the Merced cultural and dance community.
